Dr. Ning Tang, Ph.D., is a counseling psychologist and trauma therapist in Raleigh, NC, who specializes in trauma-informed care and evidence-based treatment of PTSD and trauma-related disorders. She conducts psychological assessments, including ADHD and personality testing, and approaches testing as a way to provide clarity, validation, and actionable insight. Fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese, she provides inclusive and culturally responsive care.

Education & Experience

Dr. Tang earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from The University of Akron (APA-accredited). She also holds a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from The University of Akron, a Master of Education in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri, and a Bachelor of Education in Educational Psychology and Counseling from National Taiwan Normal University.

Her clinical training includes:

  • Texas Tech University Student Counseling Center – Doctoral Internship, providing individual, couples, and group therapy, crisis care, assessments, and outreach.

Research & Professional Interests

Dr. Tang’s research examines the intersection of trauma, culture, and identity. Her dissertation focused on Asian international women students’ experiences of gendered racial microaggressions, PTSD symptoms, social support, and posttraumatic growth. She presented her dissertation research at the annual convention for the American Psychological Association in August 2025. She has presented nationally on race-related stress and trainee experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic.
